Creating a Draft Claim

Learn how to create a draft and build your claim in preparation for referral

To create a draft claim, navigate to the homepage and click “Create Claim +”.

You will be presented with three screens to complete. An index of these are shown on the left of the screen.

Your organisation will be selected by default under “My Organisation”. Select the respondent organisation from the list shown. (Organisations will be pre-loaded by Nuvalaw. If the organisation you are looking for is not shown on the list, please contact support@nuvalaw.com)

Click “Configure” to proceed to the next screen.

Select Claim Process Configuration

You’ll see that the half moon has turned into a blue checkmark to show that you’ve completed the section. You now need to choose the Process. Here we will select Arbitration.

The radio button will become a blue checkmark to show the selection has been made and the appropriate list of Incident Types will become visible. Here “Road Traffic Accident” is available.

Select the claim type and dispute type and confirm the value of the claim.

Note: The default value is the maximum value set for the product (e.g. for any OIC product, this will be GBP 10,000). This can be overridden with a lower maximum by the respondent. For example, an insurer may not wish to receive referrals for OIC claims valued above GBP 5,000. In such a scenario, the respondent organisation’s lower maximum of GBP 5,000 will override the product maximum of GBP 10,000 and be displayed on the blue bar. (Validation is performed later on this maximum when saving heads of loss, whose gross total cannot exceed the maximum.)

Click "Claim Details" to proceed. To create the draft claim, fill in the required fields.

A confirmation appears indicating that you have created the draft. Click ‘Next’ to proceed to building the claim in preparation for referral.

Populating and Submitting the Draft

Upon creation of the draft, a task is created for you to complete it. By default, Interact sets drafts as due in two weeks. If you do not wish to proceed with a draft, you can delete it by clicking on the kebab menu (three dots) on the top right hand corner of your screen when you have the claim open. Deletion is final and no record is kept of your deleted drafts.

Having created a draft claim, you can begin to populate it with all the required documentation and data.
